چکیده

We present spectroscopic and photometric observations of the afterglow of GRB 021211 and the discovery of its associated supernova, SN 2002lt. The spectrum shows a broad feature (FWHM = 150 Å), around 3770 Å (in the rest-frame of the GRB), which we interpret as Ca H+K blueshifted by 14 400 km/s. Potential sources of contamination due to the host galaxy and/or residuals of telluric absorption have been analyzed and ruled out. Overall, the spectrum shows a suggestive resemblance with the one of the prototypical type-Ic SN 1994I. This might indicate that GRBs are produced also by standard type-Ic supernovae.

Unique data on BV RI brightness curves of the OT of GRB 970508 obtained with the 6-m telescope have been interpreted in the framework of the GRB-SN (supernovae) connection. The effect must be maximal in the Ic band as OT GRB 970228 [5]. The peak absolute (MB) magnitude of the suggested SN must be around -19.5 for the OT of GRB 970508. If all or the main part of long GRBs are associated with SNe...

The attempt to secure conclusive, spectroscopic evidence for the GRB/SN connection has been a central theme in most GRB observing time proposals since the discovery of the very unusual GRB 980425 associated with the peculiar type Ib/c SN 1998bw. GRB 030329 provided this evidence to everybody’s satisfaction. In this contribution we show the results of a spectroscopic campaign of the supernova as...

Implications of the consistency of GRB 060218 / SN 2006 aj with the E p , i – E iso correlation

The gamma-ray burst GRB 060218 is an important event because of its very low redshift z = 0.0331, its low isotropic–equivalent radiated energy E iso ∼ 7 × 10 49 erg and its clear association with a supernova (SN) event (SN 2006aj). Under these respects, GRB 060218 is the event most similar to GRB 980425, the proto–type event of the GRB–SN connection. However, while the peak energy E p,i and E i...

Diversity of GRB energetics vs . SN homogeneity : supernova 2013 cq associated with the gamma - ray burst 130427 A ⋆

Aims. Long-duration gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) have been found to be associated with broad-lined type-Ic supernovae (SNe), but only a handful of cases have been studied in detail. Prompted by the discovery of the exceptionally bright, nearby GRB 130427A (redshift z = 0.3399), we aim at characterising the properties of its associated SN 2013cq. This is the first opportunity to test directly the pro...
